Clean Energy and Clean Technology Vision Workshop

BEST For Energy Project brought together the actors of the innovation ecosystem with the “Vision Workshop” to implement R&D and innovation ideas and innovative projects in the field of clean energy. The workshop held online on October 11, 2021, brought together 279 participants who aim to be active in "Clean Energy and Clean Technology."
 
The morning session of the workshop started with the opening speeches. İzmir Development Agency Secretary General Dr. Mehmet YAVUZ talked about the Blue and Green Growth targets for İzmir and said that the BEST For Energy Project is essential for achieving these targets.
 
Ministry of Industry and Technology Project Manager Tolga ŞEFLEK gave information about the Competitive Sectors Program and other clean energy projects financed under the Program.
 
Özgür ÖCAL, Task Manager of EU Delegation to Turkey, stated that the EU has concretely demonstrated its determination to reduce carbon emissions with the European Green Deal and said that projects such as BEST For Energy contribute significantly to this vision.
 
Participating in the workshop as a Key Note Speaker, European Commission Senior Expert Bernhard FABIANEK gave a speech on the EU Green Deal and the targets to be achieved in this context. He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the development of R&D and innovation.
 
BEST For Energy Project Team Leader Ekin TAŞKIN, Senior Expert Buğra BARLAS, and Senior Expert Belda ATİLLA made their presentations in the session titled ''Clean Energy Sector Value Chain and Competencies Required for the Future.'' and gave information to the participants about the results of the value chain analysis, needs analysis, and competence analysis studies carried out within the project.
 
In the continuation of the workshop; TÜBİTAK Scientific Programs Expert Hanife TUZCUOĞLU and BEST For Energy Project Senior Expert Pelin DURTAŞ exchanged ideas on the Horizon Europe Program, European Innovation Council, Eureka Program, and European Green Deal within the scope of TÜBİTAK International R&D and Innovation Programs and TÜBİTAK Future Vision.
 
Sinem ALTUNCU, General Manager of the EUROGIA 2030 Program, gave information about the purpose and objectives of the EUROGIA 2030 Program.
 
In the afternoon session of the workshop, TÜBİTAK Scientific Programs Expert Hanife TUZCUOĞLU and Senior Representative of End Recipient Çağrı YILDIRIM gave information about Horizon Europe Cluster 5: Climate, Energy and Mobility Work Plan and EU Project Proposal Writing Training by TÜBİTAK.
 
Horizon 2020/Europe Program Key Expert Odysseas SPYROGLOU shared information on presenting projects for Project Market Introduction and how to submit a project for International Partnership within Cluster 5: Climate, Energy, and Mobility- TÜBİTAK Networking Event.
 
In the last part of the online workshop, priority areas for project partnerships of companies, academics, and related institutions have been determined. Afterward, project ideas in priority areas and relevance to the Horizon Europe February and April calls were discussed.
